| The National Science and Technology Program for Biotechnology and Pharmaceuticals (NSTPBP) is a national project promoted together by National Science Council (NSC), Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) and the Department of Health (DOH), Taiwan. NSTPBP is designated to advance the research and the development of Chinese herbal medicines, new chemical drugs and also protein drugs. In order to integrate the limited sources, the program office recruits R&D experts and gathers all the allocated funding related to biotechnology/drug research and development of the MOEA, DOH and NSC to integrate the co-operation among industry, government, academic and the institute. The research programs of NSTPBP are focus on four fields: cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular and neurological diseases. Besides the research programs, the preclinical evaluation unit, industry promotion unit, chemical core Lab. and academic- industry bridging office are set up to help the research result smoothly transfer to industry. The NSTPBP promotion not only benefits the quality of the medical treatment for the nation but also enhances the development of the industry in the medicinal related fields, proliferating the diplomacy and in addition many valuable unforeseen benefits. |
